Botox is one of the most well-known wrinkle relaxers in the world, as it has treated dynamic wrinkles for over 35 years. The FDA first approved Botox in 1989, and since then, Botox has undergone over 20 years of research and studies on the injectable have been published in 4,700 peer-reviewed medical journals and scientific articles.
At Medical Grade Aesthetics, we offer more than just Botox in Janesville—we offer a selection of researched and effective wrinkle relaxers, and we will help you choose one based on your individual needs. Here, we’ll explain our different options for wrinkle relaxers and who would most benefit from them!
Botox
Botox is the most popular wrinkle relaxer available and serves as the basis for our understanding of other wrinkle relaxers. While Botox is the most well-known of wrinkle relaxers, the proteins used in the formula may not work as well for some patients. Your provider will help you determine the best injectable for your needs.
Xeomin
Your body is extremely smart, and it tries to turn everything that you put into your body into energy. That process can be a help (for digesting food) or a hindrance (for injectables like wrinkle relaxers or dermal fillers). Your metabolism, that energy creating process, eventually breaks down any injection or neurotoxin.
Most wrinkle relaxers use NAPs (non-toxic neurotoxin-associated proteins) to keep your body from metabolizing any injections too quickly.
NAPs are known to increase the production of inflammatory proteins in your body, which can cause discomfort for those managing chronic pain or inflammation. Xeomin does not use NAPs. This is one of the reasons why your provider will learn your full medical history before determining which wrinkle relaxer is best for you.
Jeuveau
All wrinkle relaxers, including Botox, use a combination of proteins to smooth out wrinkles by temporarily limiting movement within specific facial muscles. They all work very similarly, but Jeuveau has a slight variation in the formula, since it is made by a different manufacturer. Because of that different protein composition, early studies show that Jeuveau may be able to deliver results faster for some patients.
Daxxify
There are many aspects that go into the Botox formula, including an HSA (human serum albumin). HSA is a stabilizer that prevents the Botox from sticking to the walls of the vial and ensures that the product will spread evenly throughout the treatment area.
Daxxify works very similarly to Botox in Janesville, but instead of using an HSA, it uses a specific peptide to stabilize the formula by having the toxin molecules bind to polysorbate-20 surfactant—a sugar molecule. Early studies have shown that this may result in Daxxify lasting longer than Botox.
Dysport
Dysport and Botox use very similar formulas, but use slightly different proteins. While these protein differences are not yet known, early studies have shown that the Dysport formula may spread farther than Botox.
our provider will always be able to help you find the right wrinkle relaxer for your needs. Remember that all neurotoxins cleared by the FDA in the United States are prescriptions – trust your provider to make the best recommendation for you.
