Laser Skin Treatment in Beloit

Light the Way to Better Skin With Our Laser Skin Treatments

When people hear “laser skin rejuvenation” for the first time, they tend to imagine intense, cartoon-esque lasers and become hesitant to allow one near their face. While we understand their thought process, lasers in aesthetics look a bit different.

Laser technology has made many advancements in the last few years, and today’s aesthetic laser can deliver an effective yet comfortable skin treatment that reveals your natural glow. Here, we talk about our different options for laser skin treatment in Beloit and what you can expect when you visit our team at Medical Grade Aesthetics.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing uses the heat generated from laser light to gently ablate (or gradually remove) the uppermost layer of your skin, or your epidermis. This process removes the damaged skin contributing to common issues like wrinkles, fine lines, scarring, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation.

At the same time, the heat reaches into your dermis, or the middle layer of your skin where collagen and elastin are made. Collagen and elastin are both essential proteins that your body makes to keep your skin, muscles, and other tissues flexible. Your natural production of these proteins decreases continuously starting around the age of 20, causing wrinkles, sagging skin, and other common aesthetic concerns.

Laser skin resurfacing stimulates your body’s natural healing response, which increases your production of collagen and elastin. Then, these proteins repair and strengthen the cellular structure of your skin, creating a smoother, brighter, and younger-looking complexion.

Our Types of Skin Resurfacing Lasers

We have 3 different lasers we use for laser skin resurfacing.

Motus AZ+

The Motus AZ+ laser balances efficiency and suitability for all skin tones, making it great for addressing wrinkles, scarring, hyperpigmentation, unwanted hair, and visible capillaries in all patients.

CoolPeel

The CoolPeel laser uses smart CO2 technology to effectively address mild-to-moderate skin concerns while still prioritizing patient comfort.

Deka CO2

The Deka CO2 laser also uses precise CO2 technology, but it provides a more intense laser treatment to correct moderate-to-severe aesthetic concerns.

What the Resurfacing Procedure Looks Like

For your laser treatment, your provider prepares the treatment area by cleansing your skin. Then, they give you protective goggles to wear and begin the procedure.

We use lasers designed to prioritize patient comfort, so while you may notice a slight snapping sensation, these are very tolerable procedures.

During your appointment, you relax in one of our treatment chairs and receive your laser skin treatment in Beloit for about 30 minutes before your provider removes your goggles, applies sunscreen, and helps you book your next session.

AviClear

AviClear, another cutting-edge laser treatment, was specifically designed to tackle acne. Whether you are struggling with acne as a teen or as an adult, the AviClear laser offers a noninvasive solution without the risks of prescription drugs.

The AviClear laser uses precise laser light to target the sebaceous glands, where your skin produces natural oils. Acne gets worse from an overproduction of this oil, also known as sebum. When your body produces too much sebum, it can clog your pores, trapping dirt, debris, and acne-causing bacteria.

The AviClear laser uses the gentle heat generated by laser light to target the glands, damaging them so they produce less sebum. This, in turn, reduces the amount of acne-causing bacteria in your pores, limiting inflammation and pimple development.

What the AviClear Procedure Looks Like

For this laser skin treatment in Beloit, your provider cleanses your skin and then gives you protective goggles to wear during the procedure. You do not need topical numbing for this treatment, because AviClear features a custom cooling tip to keep you relatively comfortable during the procedure.

Each AviClear session only takes about an hour, and it is incredibly effective at reaching your sebaceous glands and reducing your acne. Once your session ends, your provider helps you schedule the next session in your treatment series.

Laser Hair Removal

Shaving, waxing, tweezing, and removal creams—you have so many options for removing unwanted body hair, but none of them deliver lasting results, and they all come with uncomfortable side effects.

Thankfully, we offer a laser skin treatment in Beloit to remove unwanted hair. Unlike at-home methods, this treatment delivers the long-lasting results you want without the uncomfortable side effects you don’t want.

Laser hair removal targets melanin within the hair follicle, the tube-shaped shaft from which a hair grows. When the laser light targets the melanin, the heat it creates causes those cells to break apart, permanently damaging the follicle and preventing future hair growth.

What the Laser Hair Removal Procedure Looks Like

When you arrive for your appointment, your provider cleanses your skin in the treatment area and then provides you with protective goggles to wear. It is important that you shave the treatment area within 24 hours before your appointment, but please do not wax or tweeze the hair in the treatment area for a few weeks before treatment.

Then, they move the handpiece across your skin, administering the laser light evenly through the treatment area. The Motus AZ+ laser, which we use for laser hair removal, was designed with patient comfort in mind. You should not need any numbing cream before treatment.

Once your appointment finishes, your provider will help you schedule the next laser sessions in your treatment series. Most patients need about 6 sessions to see effective and long-lasting results.

Laser Vein Treatment

Struggling with spider veins? We can help you address discolored or web-like veins on your body with our final laser skin treatment in Beloit.

Our laser spider vein treatment uses heat to target the superficial blood vessels within your dermis.

You have 2 different types of blood vessels: superficial and deep. Deep vessels transport blood, oxygen, and other essential nutrients to your muscles, organs, and other tissues. Meanwhile, superficial blood vessels help regulate the body’s temperature and protect it from environmental temperature changes.

Because superficial veins live closer to the surface of the skin, they get damaged more easily, which can create the appearance of twisting, dark purple lines across the skin. Many patients visit us to address spider veins because they cause feelings of self-consciousness.

With our laser vein treatment, we use the heat from the targeted laser light to constrict the blood vessels and break up pigment. This destroys the veins, causing them to collapse. Your body then absorbs each collapsed vessel and redirects blood flow to deep veins, helping you to see clearer, healthier skin.

What the Laser Vein Procedure Looks Like

When you arrive for your laser vein treatment, your provider cleanses your skin and then provides you with protective goggles to shield your eyes from the intense light. Then, they use the handheld device to administer the treatment.

With this laser skin treatment in Beloit, you may feel the sensation of a mild snapping against your skin, but you should not need numbing. The Motus AZ+ laser keeps your epidermis comfortable while it targets superficial blood vessels underneath your skin.

After your treatment (the amount of time depends on the size of the treatment area), your provider removes the goggles and helps you book your next session.

Common Questions About Laser Treatments

With so many different laser treatments, we understand that you may still have questions. To help, we’ve compiled a list of our most-asked laser questions and their corresponding answers.

If you have questions you don’t see answered here, then we encourage you to reach out to our team. We are happy to give you the information you need to determine whether you make a good candidate for our laser services.

Why can I not wax or tweeze my hair before getting laser hair removal?

Before your appointment, we ask you not to use any hair removal methods that completely remove the hair from the follicle.

Laser hair removal only works because the laser light uses the pigment in your hair to “see” the follicle. If you remove a hair from the follicle, the laser cannot damage the follicle and effectively limit future hair growth.

However, it is important that you shave the area about 24 hours before your appointment to limit how much hair is visible above your skin, since shaving cuts off hair at the surface rather than in the follicle. During treatment, the laser light will burn any hair visible above your skin, causing more discomfort than necessary.

Why do I need so many laser hair removal sessions?

Hair has 4 different phases in its growth cycle: anagen (active growth), catagen (regression), telogen (resting), and exogen (shedding). The best time to target hair with laser hair removal is during the growth phase, when it has the most pigment in the follicle and it’s very connected to the follicle, since that makes it easier for the laser to damage the follicle and prevent future hair growth.

However, each hair moves through the phases of the growth process independently, meaning that only a percentage of the hair follicles in the treatment area get addressed in each treatment.

To effectively prevent hair growth for the long term, you need to schedule at least 6 sessions of laser hair removal, with each session 4 to 6 weeks apart. This helps the laser target every hair in the area at the perfect time in its growth cycle, so you see the best results possible.

What causes spider veins?

Spider veins develop for many reasons, but the most common causes we see include:

  • Aging
  • Genetics
  • Prolonged sitting or standing
  • Pregnancy
  • Being overweight
  • History of blood clots
  • Smoking and drinking

You can make certain lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of developing spider veins, but to address spider veins that have already developed, you can easily schedule an appointment for our options for laser skin treatment in Beloit.
